Dede Smith is a seasoned photojournalist, writer and picture editor who spent most of her career documenting news and sports events in Florida. She was a staff photographer at Charlotte Sun, Fort Myers News-Press, Ocala Star-Banner and Gainesville Sun. She came to Jacksonville in 2003 to be the Director of Photography for the Florida Times-Union. For the past several years she has been doing real estate and commercial photography and business headshots. Her long list of freelance clients include assignments for J Magazine, Florida Times-Union, Florida Trend and Daily Record and Observer. She also works for dozens of area realtors doing listing images.

Dede graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Journalism and Communications specializing in Photojournalism.
